On a spring evening in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 16-year-old Terrance Smith Jr., an African American male, was tragically cut short. On May 4, 2016, at approximately 8:39 PM, in the area of New Willow and Getwell, Smith was shot in the back. He was pronounced dead at the scene, becoming the city's 77th homicide victim of the year.
