In the early summer of 2016, the life of a Nashville police officer came to a tragic end. Jonathan Perez, a 31-year-old male, was found deceased in his South Nashville apartment on June 5, 2016. The cause of his death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Perez had built a life of service, first as an Army Combat Medic and then as a respected member of the Metro Nashville Police Department, where he had received numerous commendations.
