In the early morning hours of Halloween in 2020, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet streets of Nashville. Behind the wheel of his distinctive black and yellow 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, 24-year-old Prentice Wilkerson was driving near the intersection of 14th Avenue North and Cass Street. It was around 2:20 a.m. when an unknown assailant, or assailants, opened fire on his vehicle for reasons that remain unclear to the public.
The force of the gunshots caused Wilkerson to lose control of
his car, which then veered off the road and came to a final, tragic stop in the 2000 block of 15th Avenue North. When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found Wilkerson with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, his life cut short in a sudden act of violence.
