On a street in the Whitehaven neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 27-year-old Travis Johnson, a Black / African American male, came to a sudden and violent end on the evening of Saturday, March 4, 2017. The incident, which unfolded on East Barron Circle, resulted in Johnson sustaining a fatal gunshot wound. Another individual was also injured during the altercation.
Responding to the scene, Memphis police discovered Johnson, who was later identified as the deceased.
As investigators began to piece together the events of that night, their findings led to a swift conclusion. By the following day, the Memphis Police Department announced that they had identified all parties involved in the shooting.
In a significant development, the police department declared the shooting of Travis Johnson to be a justifiable homicide. This determination indicated that the investigation concluded the person who shot Johnson had acted in self-defense, and therefore, no criminal charges were pursued against them.
