In the late hours of a September evening in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 28-year-old Jordan Briggs, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. On September 12, 2021, Briggs was discovered unresponsive at the Skyline Inn located off Shelby Drive. He had sustained apparent gunshot wounds to his chest. Despite the arrival of the Memphis Fire Department, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led
Memphis police to a suspect, Fountain Holley. According to police records, Holley alleged that his actions were a response to an attempted robbery by an individual from room 220. He claimed that after the alleged attempt, he returned to the room and discharged a firearm multiple times. Eyewitnesses at the hotel identified Holley as the individual involved in the shooting, leading to his swift apprehension.
Following his arrest, Fountain Holley was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Jordan Briggs. He was subsequently arraigned in court to face the charges brought against him. As the legal proceedings began, the community mourned the loss of Briggs, holding a vigil to honor his memory.
