Shaton Devray Cobb, a 48-year-old male, was fatally shot on June 13, 2025, at his place of business in Memphis, Tennessee. The incident was the culmination of a dispute that had begun earlier in the day. An altercation occurred between a woman and Cobb, the owner of the Tires Llantas shop on Winchester Road. During the argument, the woman reportedly used pepper spray on Cobb, and he, in turn, pushed her to the ground.
Roughly two hours after the initial confrontation, a man arrived at
the tire shop asking to see the owner. An employee pointed out Shaton Cobb, and the two men began to converse. Shortly after, the man pulled out a firearm and shot Cobb multiple times. He then turned the weapon on the female employee, shooting her in the legs before fleeing the scene. Emergency services were called, and Shaton Cobb was pronounced dead at the location. The injured employee was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified a suspect. The surviving victim informed police that the shooter was the son of the woman who had been involved in the earlier dispute with Cobb. She was able to provide a description that matched the woman's son. Investigators presented the hospitalized victim with a six-person photo lineup, from which she immediately identified Tony Curry, 29, as the individual who had shot both her and Shaton Cobb.
Tony Curry was subsequently arrested and is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and the use of a firearm with the intent to commit a felony. He is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail.
