Derrian Poplar, a 39-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on December 29, 2016, in Memphis, Tennessee. Poplar was found unresponsive in the street at the intersection of Vance and Lauderdale. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had been shot multiple times after being robbed of his wallet. The incident was classified as a homicide, marking the 225th homicide in Memphis for the year 2016.
