In the spring of 2017, the life of 30-year-old Adam Anderson, a student at Lincoln College of Technology in Nashville, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. On the evening of May 1st, Anderson was discovered with a critical gunshot wound in the back parking lot of the trade school, near his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.
The initial investigation into the shooting pointed towards a possible drug-related motive.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a small white car, possibly a Mazda, speeding away from the parking lot shortly after the gunshot rang out. They also described a male suspect with dreadlocks, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and tan pants, fleeing the area on foot. For weeks, the case remained a high priority for the Metro Nashville Police Department as they worked to identify the individual responsible for Anderson's death.
A significant breakthrough in the investigation came on June 8, 2017, when Metro Police arrested 18-year-old Keanthony Jones and charged him with first-degree murder in connection with Adam Anderson's death. At the time of his arrest for the murder, Jones was already out on bond for a separate aggravated robbery that had occurred in April of the same year.
Following his arrest, Keanthony Jones faced the judicial system for his alleged role in the fatal shooting. The case proceeded to trial, and on June 17, 2019, a jury reached a verdict. Jones was found guilty of the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter. He was subsequently sentenced for his conviction in the death of Adam Anderson.
