In the late evening of August 8, 2017, the life of 23-year-old Deonte Jerrell James came to a tragic end in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Police, responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road, discovered James inside. He had been shot, and paramedics who arrived at the scene pronounced him deceased. The young man, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a 2012 graduate of Brainerd High School where he had been a drummer in the band, was a father to a young son.
