In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 14, 2016, the life of 35-year-old Jermichael Bowling, an African American male, was tragically cut short in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Police responded to a call at approximately 5:28 a.m. in the 2600 block of East 41st Street, where they discovered Bowling suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he succumbed to them before authorities arrived at the scene.

investigation into Bowling's death was promptly taken over by the Chattanooga Violent Crimes Bureau. Investigators began following several leads in the case, though they did not immediately identify any suspects. In the days and weeks that followed, the Chattanooga Police Department assured the public that they were pursuing 'solid leads' and urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation. However, despite these efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Jermichael Bowling, and no suspects have been publicly named. Jermichael Bowling was known as a cook at a local Waffle House. His death left a profound void in the lives of his family and friends. He was a husband to Kelchia Hicks Bowling and a father to seven children. A Celebration of Life service was held in his memory on August 23, 2016, at Thankful Baptist Church, where those who knew and loved him gathered to mourn their loss. The community continues to hope for a resolution that will bring justice for Jermichael and his family.
