On June 2, 2017, the life of 25-year-old Destiny Ai'gner Weaver was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Missouri. Her body was discovered inside her vehicle at Tower Park, located near East 76th Street and Holmes Road, the following morning. An investigation revealed she had died from a gunshot wound.
Weaver was a vibrant and ambitious young woman.
She was a graduate of Center High School's class of 2010 and had attended Langston University in Oklahoma, where she studied Forensic Science and maintained a high grade-point average. An entrepreneur, she was the creator and owner of Fonk'd OWT Tees and Wigz Split Hair Designs. She was also deeply involved in her community, having worked for a decade as a summer youth counselor.
According to reports, two women who were walking in Tower Park on the evening of June 3rd noticed Weaver slumped over in her Kia Soul. One of the women recalled seeing the car parked in the same spot the previous day with Weaver inside. It is believed that she was killed shortly after being seen that afternoon.
In the wake of her death, Weaver's family pleaded for answers and justice. Her mother expressed the belief that the person responsible was likely someone close to her daughter, as Destiny was very particular about the company she kept. Despite the ongoing investigation and a reward of up to $6,300 being offered for information leading to an arrest, the case remains unsolved. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with her murder. In her memory, a non-profit organization called Justice 4 Destiny Inc. was established to support the loved ones of homicide victims.
