On the evening of February 17, 2018, the life of 22-year-old Tevin Murrell, a Black male, was tragically cut short in his Jackson, Tennessee apartment. Officers from the Jackson Police Department responded to a call at the Georgian Cove apartments and discovered Murrell inside his residence with multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Murrell's death led authorities to identify a suspect, Shuntoris Deonte Cole. Following a diligent investigation by the Jackson Police Department, Cole was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. An indictment was later handed down, charging Cole with second-degree murder.
After his arrest, Cole was booked into the Madison County Jail. The legal process began to unfold, with a scheduled court appearance for his arraignment. The case against him proceeded through the court system, as the community sought justice for the violent end to a young life.
