On the afternoon of August 17, 2017, tragedy struck in Kansas City, Missouri, when 18-year-old Roosevelt Cooper was fatally shot just one day before he was scheduled to depart for college. The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the parking lot of a Save-A-Lot grocery store located at 3410 Troost Avenue, near Armour Boulevard.
