In the afternoon hours of July 26, 2019, a young life was tragically cut short in Nashville, Tennessee. Treshaun David, a 19-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in the head during an apparent robbery. The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. in the Cumberland View Homes area, specifically on the 2300 block of 25th Avenue North. When Metro police responded to the call of a person shot, they found David in critical condition.
He was quickly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the death of Treshaun David led authorities to identify two suspects. Wesley Croichy Jr., who was 22 years old at the time, and 23-year-old Devonte Sherley were both implicated in the fatal shooting. Investigators believe that the two men shot David while attempting to rob him. The gunman, described as having shoulder-length dreadlocks, fled the scene on foot, while a second individual was seen leaving in a white Ford sedan that had a sunroof.
Both suspects were apprehended by law enforcement. Devonte Sherley was taken into custody shortly after the incident. Wesley Croichy Jr. was later arrested by U.S. Marshals at an apartment complex located in Madison. During his arrest, Croichy attempted to escape by jumping through a window and then head-butting a police officer, which resulted in an additional charge of assault. Both he and Sherley were charged with first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery for their roles in the death of Treshaun David.
