On the evening of November 16, 2020, 34-year-old Alexander Presley, a White male, was sitting in a car in the driveway of his South Nashville home on Weaver Drive when the unthinkable happened. At approximately 7:25 p.m., a newer model black sedan pulled up behind his vehicle. Two individuals emerged from the sedan and approached Presley. One of them fired a shot, inflicting a fatal wound.
Despite being critically injured, Presley managed to drive away, coming to a stop in the 1300 block of School Lane, where he was found by responding officers and tragically died at the scene from a gunshot wound.
The investigation into the homicide led Metro Nashville Police Department detectives to identify two teenage suspects, Jonathan Morales-Perez and Oswaldo Corado-Callejas, both 17 years old at the time. Their involvement was not limited to this single act of violence. Investigators connected them to the murder of another man, 22-year-old Lee Turner, which occurred just one month after Presley's death. This discovery painted a grim picture of a violent crime spree involving the two teenagers.
The path to justice saw a significant breakthrough on May 6, 2021, when Morales-Perez was arrested during a traffic stop. A search of the vehicle he was in revealed seven guns. During questioning, he admitted his role in both the murder of Alexander Presley and Lee Turner. He was subsequently charged with two counts of criminal homicide and one count of unlawful gun possession. His accomplice, Oswaldo Corado-Callejas, was apprehended shortly after the murder of Lee Turner and has remained in custody. The cases against both individuals, who were juveniles at the time of the crimes, have proceeded through the legal system, with the case against Corado-Callejas being transferred to Criminal Court for him to be tried as an adult. The families of the victims have been vocal in their pursuit of justice, advocating for significant penalties for the accused.
