In the late hours of a Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 23-year-old Eric E. Thompson Jr., a male, was tragically cut short. On February 28, 2021, Thompson was driving his silver Kia Forte on Briley Parkway in the northern part of the city. He was not alone; two other individuals were passengers in his vehicle, having just left a tattoo shop in the nearby Madison area.
Their journey took a fatal turn when another vehicle, described by authorities as a dark-colored Dodge Charger with tinted windows, pulled alongside them.
From within the Charger, an unknown assailant or assailants opened fire on Thompson's car. The gunshots shattered the evening's calm and left Thompson with a mortal wound. Despite being rushed to Skyline Medical Center, his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Miraculously, the two passengers in his car were not seriously injured in the barrage of bullets, escaping the violent encounter with their lives.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Metro Nashville Police Department launched a homicide investigation. Detectives have been actively seeking information from the public to help identify the suspect or suspects responsible for Thompson's death. A significant focus of their investigation has been the dark Dodge Charger from which the fatal shots were fired.
