In the late summer of 2019, the life of 20-year-old Kerron Young, a Black male, was tragically cut short on the streets of Memphis, Tennessee. On the afternoon of Saturday, August 24, 2019, gunfire erupted in the Whitehaven neighborhood, leaving Young fatally wounded. The incident added another grim statistic to the city's record of gun violence.
