On the evening of Labor Day, September 4, 2017, violence struck the streets of Kansas City, Missouri, claiming the life of a 38-year-old man named Lester A. Davis. Shortly before 9:00 p.m., officers from the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the 1300 block of East 89th Street following reports of a shooting in the area. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered Davis lying on the sidewalk, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
