In the late afternoon hours of a Monday in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 23-year-old Jamal Montez Crawford was tragically cut short. On November 25, 2019, Crawford was fatally shot in what investigators believe was a drug transaction that turned violent. The shooting occurred around 4:20 p.m. in the 700 block of Alloway Street, a detail that painted a grim picture of an ordinary day shattered by gunfire.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Crawford had arranged
to meet with two individuals. These men arrived in a black Nissan Juke, a crossover vehicle that would become a key element in the ensuing investigation. During this meeting, the situation escalated, resulting in Crawford being shot. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Midtown Hills Precinct detectives were quick to launch a homicide investigation, working to piece together the events that led to the young man's death. They released descriptions of the two suspects to the public in the hopes of generating leads. One of the men was described as having long dreadlocks, nearly reaching his waist, and was last seen wearing a black and blue tracksuit with a toboggan hat. His accomplice was described as a bald man who wore glasses and a gray sweatshirt. Both suspects are identified as Black males.
In the years that have followed the shooting, law enforcement has continued to seek information from the public. A reward was offered for any tips that could lead to the identification and arrest of the individuals responsible for Jamal Crawford's murder.
