In the winter of 2019, a Nashville man, 47-year-old Jamar Pillow, was shot and killed inside his Fairwin Avenue home. His girlfriend, Kristina Arnold, 28, called 911 on the night of December 17th to report that she had shot him. When police arrived, they found Pillow in his bed with a single gunshot wound. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
Arnold was taken into custody and initially charged with attempted criminal homicide.
Following Pillow's death on December 18, 2019, the charge was upgraded to criminal homicide. During her 911 call, Arnold reportedly told the dispatcher that 'something told her to do it' and that the devil was in the residence.
The case proceeded through the legal system, where Arnold's defense claimed she was experiencing a psychotic episode at the time of the shooting. Despite this, she was ultimately found guilty of criminal homicide and sentenced to prison. Jamar Pillow was survived by his father, a son, a daughter, and two sisters.
