In the winter of 2020, the life of 23-year-old Nayeli Bobbi Jean Bradford was tragically cut short in Memphis, Tennessee. On the morning of Monday, February 24th, a sequence of violent events unfolded, leaving two women dead and a community in shock. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office was called to the 7700 block of Belmont Run Cove in southeast Shelby County, where they discovered the first victim, 25-year-old Destiny Wilkins.
She had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The investigation quickly revealed that a second woman, Nayeli Bobbi Jean Bradford, was missing and believed to have been kidnapped by the suspect. The search for Nayeli ended tragically when a black Impala, linked to the crime scene, was found in the 6900 block of Lake Valley Drive. Inside the vehicle, investigators discovered Nayeli's body; she too had been shot and killed. The discovery of the second victim intensified the manhunt for the person responsible for this double homicide.
Authorities swiftly identified a suspect in the brutal slayings. Darrin Walker, who was 24 years old at the time, became the focus of the investigation. He was apprehended and subsequently charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Nayeli Bobbi Jean Bradford and Destiny Wilkins. In addition to the murder charges, Walker also faced accusations of especially aggravated kidnapping and theft of property, painting a grim picture of the final hours of the victims' lives.
The legal proceedings against Darrin Walker culminated in a trial where the evidence of his crimes was presented. In August 2022, a jury found him guilty on all charges, including the premeditated murders of both women.
