On May 14, 2023, in Memphis, Tennessee, 9-year-old Maaliyah Williamson tragically lost her life after being accidentally shot by her 7-year-old brother. The incident occurred when the siblings were playing in a car owned by a family friend, James Bowen Jr. The young boy discovered a loaded handgun in the vehicle's glove compartment and, while handling it, unintentionally discharged the weapon, fatally wounding his sister.
