In the early hours of March 19, 2020, the life of 20-year-old Holman Robert 'Trey' Tanner, a White male, was tragically cut short in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Police were called to a residence in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard shortly after 12:30 a.m. where they discovered Tanner deceased from a gunshot wound.
A junior in the Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Trey was remembered as a bright and caring individual with an infectious
smile. He was a 2017 graduate of Christian Academy of Knoxville where he had been a member of both the varsity football and wrestling teams. Friends and family described him as a loving son and a protective brother who was always attentive to the needs of others. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time on the lake and in the mountains with those he held dear.
The promising young student's death was classified as a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Chattanooga Police Department. Despite their efforts, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The case remains unsolved, leaving a painful void for his family and community who continue to mourn the loss of a young man known for his kind heart and vibrant spirit.
