In a tragic turn of events on a Wednesday afternoon in June 2020, a family dispute in Nashville, Tennessee, ended in a man's death at the hands of his own son. Henry Rivera, a 42-year-old male, was fatally shot inside his family's residence on Anderson Road in the Antioch area. The incident unfolded following a heated confrontation between Henry and his 19-year-old son, Anthony Rivera.
The argument reportedly began when Henry Rivera confronted his son about stealing money from his
mother. During the course of the dispute, the situation escalated dramatically. According to a witness at the scene, Anthony Rivera pulled out a pistol and fired, striking his father in the neck. Emergency services were called to the home, and Henry Rivera was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Anthony Rivera fled the scene, prompting a search by law enforcement. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department issued a public alert, identifying the 19-year-old as the suspect in his father's murder and considering him to be armed and dangerous. A warrant for his arrest on a charge of criminal homicide was sworn out by South Precinct detectives. In addition to the homicide charge, Anthony was also a suspect in an armed robbery that had occurred the previous night at a local market.
A few days later, on June 27, Anthony Rivera surrendered to authorities at the South Precinct. He was subsequently charged with criminal homicide for the death of his father, Henry Rivera. He also faced charges related to the armed robbery of the Carniceria Dominguez store.
