On a summer evening in Nashville, Tennessee, a Fourth of July celebration turned into a scene of tragedy. Maurice Bowers, a 31-year-old Black man, was enjoying a holiday gathering at a home in the 500 block of Phipps Drive on July 4, 2020. Suddenly, the festive atmosphere was shattered by the sound of gunfire as at least one individual began shooting into the crowd of partygoers.
