In the autumn of 2022, a dispute over a drug transaction in St. Louis, Missouri, culminated in the tragic death of Andre Jermaine Nash. The 42-year-old man's life was cut short on November 2, 2022, following a disagreement with Terrell Donta McDaniel, then 41 years old, concerning a fentanyl deal.
The events leading to Nash's demise began when he paid McDaniel $500 for ten grams of fentanyl. However, McDaniel failed to provide the full amount of the drug that had been purchased.
In an attempt to settle the debt, Nash began searching for McDaniel. His search led him to a vacant house in the 4100 block of Clara Place, where he had learned McDaniel was staying.
Upon entering the vacant residence, Nash was confronted by McDaniel. The confrontation escalated violently when McDaniel produced a firearm and shot Nash three times, with two bullets striking him in the chest and one in the face. Following the shooting, McDaniel, with the help of several other individuals, wrapped Nash's body in tarps and plastic. They then placed his body in the trunk of a stolen car and, under the cover of darkness, drove to the 5900 block of St. Louis Avenue, where they abandoned the body.
The following morning, on November 3, 2022, Nash's body was discovered. An investigation was launched by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI, which soon identified Terrell McDaniel as the primary suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was subsequently taken into custody.
In September 2023, Terrell Donta McDaniel appeared in front of U.S. District Judge Sarah E. Pitlyk and pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute fentanyl and one count of discharge of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. For these charges, he faced a potential sentence of up to life in prison.
