On a Sunday afternoon in Memphis, Tennessee, just five days before Christmas in 2020, 41-year-old Tracy McGee was standing outside a corner store in the 400 block of King Road near Millwood Road. It was there that her life was tragically cut short in a sudden act of violence. At approximately 2:16 p.m. on December 20, 2020, police responded to a shooting call and found Tracy unresponsive at the scene; she had been shot in the neck and back and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into
the death of the female victim led authorities to a suspect seven months later. Ladarrius Perry, who was 16 years old at the time of the incident, was arrested in the same area where the shooting occurred. During the investigation, Perry reportedly admitted to the shooting. He allegedly told detectives that the motive for the killing was that he believed Tracy McGee had taken a small amount of money from his cousin.
Following his arrest, Ladarrius Perry, then 17, was indicted by a Shelby County Grand Jury for first-degree murder in connection with Tracy McGee's death. He was held on a $450,000 bond as the legal proceedings against him commenced.
