In the early morning hours of November 10, 2019, the life of 19-year-old Jermeisha Nance, a Black female from Memphis, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. Nance was inside a gentlemen's club on East Brooks Road when multiple shots were fired at approximately 3:39 a.m. Responding officers discovered a scene of chaos, with Nance deceased and two men critically injured.
The young mother of a three-year-old daughter was described by her father, Keland Nance, as being in the wrong place at
the wrong time. Her death was a profound blow to her family, particularly her father, who has been an advocate against youth violence in the community.
