In the fall of 2020, the life of 33-year-old Shaneka Harvell was tragically cut short in a violent act that would leave her family and community mourning. On the evening of October 6th, in a residence on Prospect Street in Memphis, Tennessee, Harvell was shot and killed. The initial investigation quickly pointed to a suspect, Timmie Cooperwood, a man with whom Harvell shared children.

Within days of Harvell's death, on October 9, 2020, a warrant for first-degree murder was issued for the arrest of Timmie Cooperwood, who was also known as Terrence Cooperwood. By late October, the U.S. Marshals Service was actively seeking public assistance in locating him, highlighting that he was considered armed and dangerous. In addition to the murder charge, Cooperwood was also wanted on several other outstanding warrants, including aggravated stalking, aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
After a manhunt that lasted for several months, Timmie Cooperwood was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. Investigators tracked him to a residence in St. Cloud, Minnesota, where he was taken into custody without incident at the end of December 2020.
