In the city of Knoxville, Tennessee, a charismatic and friendly 44-year-old Black/African American man named Harry Olando Jermaine Clemons Upshaw tragically lost his life on January 6, 2021. Born on December 13, 1976, to Harry Upshaw and Kim Clemons, he was known for his active and sociable nature from a young age. He was a father to four children: Aeriyuanna Jones, Ka'Nyree Gordon, Jabarie Curry, and Aayan Gillis.
On that fateful Wednesday, Clemons was discovered inside a car near the
intersection of Fuller Avenue and Wilder Place in East Knoxville, suffering from life-threatening injuries sustained in a shooting. Emergency services rushed him to the UT Medical Center, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead. The Knoxville Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the shooting death of Harry Clemons. The case remains unsolved, adding to a growing number of unresolved homicides in the Knoxville area. His family, including his parents and siblings, held a public walkthrough at the Greater Warner Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church, followed by a graveside service at New Gray Cemetery, to honor his memory. The community continues to await answers and hope for justice to be served for Clemons and his grieving family.
