In Antioch, Tennessee, a heart-wrenching scene unfolded on April 16, 2021, forever altering the lives of a local family. Camara C. Harris, a 35-year-old Black/African American woman, was found deceased in her residence, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound. The tragic discovery was made after concerned family members requested a welfare check when she failed to appear at a family gathering. This unexpected absence prompted a call to the Metro Nashville Police Department, setting in motion a series of events that would reveal a devastating conclusion.
Upon their arrival at the apartment on Baby Ruth Lane, officers were met with a grim sight. Inside, they found Camara Harris motionless on her sofa. Also present was her 41-year-old boyfriend, Anthony Davis, who was holding a handgun. As officers began to back away from the apartment, a single gunshot rang out. Re-entering the residence, they discovered that Davis had sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Tragically, Camara Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.
The subsequent investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department led them to classify the case as an apparent murder-suicide.
