On a Friday evening, June 4, 2021, the life of 18-year-old Tanyarris Tywan Maxwell, a Black male, was tragically cut short. He was attending a sporting event near Muse Park on North Parkway in Jackson, Tennessee, when he was shot. The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m., and when officers from the Jackson Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Maxwell on the ground with gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported him to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into the homicide led authorities to identify three individuals believed to be responsible for Maxwell's death. Warrants were issued for the arrests of Nicholas Ivie, Quadarious Greer, and Kevon Womack, all on charges of first-degree murder. The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force was enlisted to aid in the apprehension of the suspects, showcasing a collaborative effort between local and federal law enforcement agencies.

The diligent work of the investigators and the task force led to the swift arrests of all three men. Quadarious Greer was the first to be taken into custody. He was tracked to an apartment on Moize Cut Off Road in Jackson and was arrested without incident. A few days later, Nicholas Ivie was captured by the U.S. Marshals Task Force. The third suspect, Kevon Womack, was also apprehended, and by June 11, both he and Ivie had been arraigned in Jackson City Court on first-degree murder charges.
