The shooting itself occurred on East Olive Avenue, but the immediate aftermath saw Vaughn being driven around for hours by a friend before any authorities were alerted to the dire situation.
Ultimately, Vaughn was pronounced dead at the corner
of B.B. King Boulevard and Union Avenue, a location several miles from where he was initially shot. His family was left to grapple with the devastating loss and the painful knowledge that there was a significant delay in him receiving potentially life-saving medical attention.
