On August 27, 2021, 23-year-old Andre Green was fatally shot at the Hermitage Inn in Nashville, Tennessee. According to witnesses, Green and the suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Demetrius Blackwell-Esters from Detroit, had an argument in a second-floor hallway. The altercation escalated into a struggle over a gun, during which Blackwell-Esters gained control of the weapon and shot Green. As Green attempted to flee, Blackwell-Esters continued firing.
