In the quiet community of Mooresburg, Tennessee, a grim discovery was made on September 20, 2021. The body of 26-year-old Jacob Britt Sawyer, a male from Erwin, Tennessee, was found on Substation Road. The initial scene was disturbing, as it appeared to be a 'burnt human,' prompting an immediate investigation by the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office.
An autopsy would later reveal the full horror of the situation: Sawyer had been shot multiple times before his body was set on fire.
The investigation into his death, ruled a homicide, quickly gained momentum, involving the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and several other local law enforcement agencies.
Two individuals soon became persons of interest in the case: Jordan Vance Coleman, 23, of Telford, and Isabelle A. Krueger, 22, of Mooresburg. Their alleged involvement led to a Hawkins County grand jury indictment on October 1, 2021. Both Coleman, who also goes by the alias Jordan Vance Way, and Krueger were arrested and faced a litany of serious charges.
The charges brought against the pair included first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, felony murder, especially aggravated kidnapping, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. Following their arrests, Coleman was held on a $1 million bond, while Krueger's bond was set at $750,000, as they awaited their initial court appearance scheduled for December 10 in Hawkins County Criminal Court.
