Labrecia Nicole Dews Stephens, a 37-year-old Black female, was fatally shot on September 25, 2021, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A mother of six, she was formerly employed by Creekside Retirement at Shallowford. The incident that claimed her life occurred on Grove Street during an after-party following a community event known as the West Side reunion.
The shooting resulted in the death of another woman, 21-year-old Keniqua Hughes, and left five other women injured.
The violent event deeply affected the local community, prompting calls for justice and an end to gun violence. Friends and family remembered Dews as a beloved mother and a cherished friend, expressing profound grief over her sudden and tragic death.
Despite active investigation by the Chattanooga Police Department, the case remains unsolved. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Authorities have continued to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to a break in the case and bring justice for Labrecia Dews and the other victims.
