In the Edgehill neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee, a domestic dispute on October 4, 2021, tragically ended the life of 15-year-old Latherious Lewis. The young man, a male, was outside his home in the 1200 block of 11th Avenue South when he was shot in the back. He was rushed to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries two days later.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified Latherious's older brother, 23-year-old Rodale Lewis, as
the primary suspect. Authorities alleged that the fatal shot was fired following a fight between the two brothers. In the days following his brother's death, Rodale Lewis became a fugitive, wanted not only for questioning in the murder but also on outstanding warrants in Alabama.
A multi-day manhunt for Rodale Lewis culminated in a dramatic capture. Detectives from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department's TITANS unit located him in a black Lincoln MKZ. A pursuit ensued, involving a Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter that tracked him for over an hour. When officers attempted to apprehend him in a drug store parking lot, Rodale used his vehicle to ram the undercover police cars in an attempt to escape. The chase continued until he abandoned his vehicle in North Nashville and attempted to hide in a trash can, where he was ultimately taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Rodale Lewis was charged with criminal homicide for the death of his brother. In addition to the homicide charge, he faced a litany of other accusations stemming from his attempt to evade capture, including evading arrest, aggravated assault on a first responder, and drug possession. He was also charged as a fugitive from Alabama. Rodale Lewis was subsequently booked into the Metro Jail and held without bond.
