In the winter of 2021, a heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Clarksville, Tennessee, culminating in the death of Tabitha Mary Collard, a 26-year-old woman. On the evening of December 20th, law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence on Ringgold Road to conduct a welfare check. Upon entering the home, they discovered a grim scene.
Tabitha, a soldier stationed at the nearby Fort Campbell, was found deceased, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Alongside her was a man, later identified as her husband, Ethan Walker V, who was critically injured from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for emergency medical treatment.
The investigation into the tragic event quickly pointed towards a murder-suicide. Authorities determined that Walker was responsible for Tabitha's death, having shot her multiple times before turning the gun on himself. There was no indication of any other individuals being involved, and the police assured the community that there was no ongoing threat.
A little over two weeks after the incident, on January 3, 2022, Ethan Walker V succumbed to his injuries. With the death of the sole suspect, the Clarksville Police Department officially closed the case, classifying it as a homicide/suicide. This brought a somber conclusion to the investigation into the violent end of a young soldier's life.
