In the airport area of Memphis, Tennessee, a life was tragically cut short on a Saturday evening. On January 22, 2022, Curtis Rolack, a 41-year-old Black/African American man, found himself in a fatal altercation in the 2700 block of Airways Boulevard. The dispute escalated to the point of gunfire, and when the Memphis Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene, they pronounced Rolack dead.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect.
The Memphis Police Department identified Robert Boddie, who also went by the name Ali, as the individual allegedly responsible for Rolack's death. An arrest warrant was promptly issued for Boddie. The charges against him were serious and included voluntary manslaughter, possession and employment of a firearm during a dangerous felony, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Following the issuance of the warrant, a manhunt for Robert Boddie ensued. He was eventually located and taken into custody by law enforcement. With his arrest, the legal process began to bring closure to the family of Curtis Rolack and to address the violent act that had taken his life. The case highlighted the ongoing struggle with gun violence within the Memphis community.
