On a September evening in 2022, the life of 18-year-old Kylan Dixon was tragically cut short in Memphis. The young man, described by his aunt as a caring and loving teenager with a personality that could light up a room, was fatally shot on September 23rd. The incident occurred at the County Line grocery store located in the 4600 block of Jul.
According to Memphis police, when officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Dixon lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. His family recounted the horrifying moments they learned of the tragedy, with his aunt recalling a frantic and tearful phone call from her daughter delivering the devastating news. She later had the grim task of identifying her nephew at the scene, a memory etched in her mind by the sight of crime scene tape and flashing blue lights.
Surveillance footage from the store captured the moments leading up to the shooting. Dixon's aunt described seeing the suspect in line, seemingly waiting. As her nephew entered the store, the suspect appeared to leave the line and head towards the door. An exchange of words is believed to have occurred before the suspect turned back, pulled out a gun, and shot Dixon inside the store. Dixon then ran out of the store before collapsing in the parking lot where he died.
In the wake of the shooting, Memphis homicide investigators released a picture of the suspected shooter to the public in an effort to identify him. At this time, it is not publicly known if any arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Kylan Dixon, and his family continues to seek justice for their loss.
