In the spring of 2022, the life of Jasper Nikita Strickland, a 30-year-old African American man from Memphis, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. On May 28, 2022, Strickland was inside a vehicle when he was shot multiple times. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was ultimately pronounced dead.

The investigation into Strickland's death, led by the Memphis Police Department's Homicide Bureau and the Multi-Agency Gang Unit, soon connected his killing to a shooting that had occurred at a ...
