Mya Christine Fuller, a 22-year-old Black / African American woman, was found deceased on August 6, 2022, in Watertown, Tennessee, after being reported missing from Murfreesboro. Her body was discovered in a wooded area off of Trammel Lane. An autopsy later revealed that Fuller had died from multiple gunshot wounds. She had been shot at least twice, and there were no signs of drugs or alcohol in her system.
Prior to the discovery of her body, Fuller was last seen by her family on July
29, 2022. She had worked an event at Geodis Park, the Nashville Soccer Club's stadium, on July 30, 2022. Her family reported her missing after being unable to contact her. Investigators later found her car parked near a nightclub on Antioch Pike.
Nearly a year after her death, three suspects were arrested in Nashville in connection with her murder. The individuals taken into custody were 21-year-old Taiyana Tipton, her 20-year-old brother Ty'Shawne Bowles, and their 20-year-old associate, La'Myra Pipkins. The investigation revealed that Tipton had a disagreement with Fuller the night before her murder. Prosecutors stated that Tipton's brother, Bowles, then contacted Fuller on social media and invited her to a party.
At the party, a physical altercation occurred between Tipton and Fuller. Following the fight, Tipton forced Fuller into the trunk of her car and drove to a developing property in Wilson County where she shot her seven times. Bowles admitted to witnessing the initial assault and hearing Tipton say "pop the trunk," but denied seeing Fuller being placed in the vehicle. He claimed to have followed his sister's car for a distance.
Taiyana Tipton was indicted on charges of First Degree Murder in Perpetration of a Kidnapping, Kidnapping, First Degree Murder and Abuse of a Corpse. Ty'Shawne Bowles faced charges of First Degree Murder in Perpetration of a Kidnapping, Kidnapping, and First Degree Murder. La'Myra Pipkins was indicted for First Degree Murder in Perpetration of a Kidnapping and Kidnapping.
In May 2025, Taiyana Tipton pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to life in prison. In October 2025, Ty'Shawne Bowles pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of facilitation for especially aggravated kidnapping and received a 12-year prison sentence. Fuller's family expressed their disagreement with the length of Bowles' sentence. The case against La'Myra Pipkins was scheduled to go to trial.
