Elizabeth Lamotte, a 17-year-old from Manchester, New Hampshire, disappeared on April 6, 1984. Her body was discovered on April 14, 1985, over a year later, along Interstate 81 in Greene County, Tennessee, almost 900 miles from where she was last seen. The remains, found near an exit ramp, were badly decomposed, and the preliminary autopsy revealed she had been killed by blunt-force trauma, with possible stab wounds contributing to her death.
