In the winter of 2016, a tragedy unfolded in Chattanooga, Tennessee, that would remain a painful mystery for years. On the night of January 31st, 25-year-old Lakita Ranice Hicks was killed in her home on East 13th Street. She was not alone in death; her partner, 24-year-old George Dillard, was also fatally shot. The horror of the event was compounded by the fact that the alarm was raised by Hicks's brave five-year-old son, who called 911 to report that his mother and father had been shot.
