A Black/African American male, Suggs was shot multiple times by his own brother, Jarvis Suggs, who was 23 at the time. The fatal confrontation occurred on New Year's Eve, shattering what should have been a time of celebration with an act of violence that would forever alter the course of their family.
Witnesses to the harrowing event
recounted that a heated argument between the two brothers took a devastating turn when Jarvis produced a firearm and opened fire on Gregory. In the immediate aftermath, as his brother lay dying, Jarvis was reportedly heard apologizing repeatedly for his actions. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered Gregory Suggs on his back, grievously wounded. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
In the wake of the shooting, Jarvis Suggs was promptly arrested and faced a charge of criminal homicide.
