On May 11, 1905, Patrolman Charles F. Finn, a 28-year-old male officer of the Reading Police Department in Pennsylvania, was fatally shot in the line of duty. While on patrol near the intersection of Ninth and Franklin Streets, Patrolman Finn discovered three individuals burglarizing a grain store.
