In the winter of 2020, the life of 18-year-old Hispanic male Victor Raymond Aguirre Jr. was tragically cut short on the streets of Reading, Pennsylvania. On the evening of December 10th, in the 300 block of Church Street, Aguirre was shot multiple times. First responders arrived at the scene around 10:30 p.m. to find him in a vehicle, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head.
While police initially stated that the killing was not gang-related, they believed Aguirre had been specifically targeted.
The investigation into the homicide revealed the incident was the result of a drug-related robbery. Detectives determined that a marijuana transaction had been arranged, which ultimately led to the deadly encounter. Their work led them to two suspects who were subsequently arrested in connection with the murder. The first to be taken into custody was 18-year-old Ramses Miller, who was arrested on April 22, 2021. Miller faced charges of second and third-degree murder, robbery, and conspiracy for his role in setting up the transaction.
A few months later, on July 28, 2021, the man believed to be the shooter was apprehended. Xavier Concepción, 32, was arrested at his residence in Leesport. He was charged with first and third-degree murder. Both suspects were held at Berks County Prison without bail as they awaited legal proceedings. The arrests brought a measure of progress in a case that had impacted the community, marking a significant step in the pursuit of justice for Victor Aguirre.
