George Kent, a 24-year-old patrol wagon driver for the Scranton Police Department, tragically lost his life on July 30, 1910. Kent, who was male and of Caucasian ethnicity, was shot and killed while responding to a call from a homeowner who reported that a group of people were attempting to blow up his house. When Kent and other officers arrived at the scene, the homeowner opened fire on them with a rifle, resulting in Kent's death. The other officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
