Patrolman Turek was attempting to prevent a suspect from entering a house where it was known the suspect had several weapons. During the ensuing chase, the suspect pulled out a concealed handgun and shot Patrolman Turek, killing him instantly.
Another officer was wounded in the incident but managed to return fire, killing the suspect.
The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed in available sources, was known to have several weapons and was involved in a domestic dispute when Patrolman Turek responded to the scene. The incident led to a vehicle pursuit, and ultimately, the fatal shooting of Patrolman Turek.
