Marie Bates, a 43-year-old woman from Chester, PA, tragically lost her life on July 1, 1993. She was fatally shot by Sherman T. Craver, her former boyfriend, during a domestic disturbance call at her home. Officer Connie Hawkins, who responded to the call, was also killed by Craver.
